What does
direct deposit mean?
Direct deposit means that a check will not be issued for your
excess financial aid or any other type of student refund. Rather
the funds will be directly deposited into your checking or
savings account.
How do I
find the bank routing number?
Every bank has a unique routing number. The routing number is a
9-digit number and is usually found at the bottom left side of
your checks. If you are unsure of your bank’s routing number,
you can call and obtain it from the bank.
How soon
will my excess refund be credited to my bank account?
Refunds will be credited to your account once your financial aid
has been distributed by the Financial Aid Office and your
financial obligations to the university have been met.
How will
I know the money has been credited to my bank account?
You
will need to contact your bank to see if the money was credited
to your account. If you have internet banking capability, you
may also check online.
What is
meant by “crediting” my bank account?
“Crediting” your bank account means money was put into your
account.
What if I
do not have a bank account?
You
cannot have your refund direct deposited without either a
checking or savings account.
Can I
send my direct deposit to a bank account other than my own?
No.
You can only direct that your refund go to your account.
Can ASU
debit my bank account?
By
agreeing to direct deposit your account, you are agreeing that
ASU can “debit” entries to adjust for any credit entries made in
error.
What is
mean by “debiting” my account?
“Debiting” means taking money out of your bank account.
Am I
required to receive direct deposit or can I still receive a
paper check?
Direct deposit is optional. You will receive your refund by
check if you do not choose to receive it by direct deposit.
I signed
up for direct deposit this semester. Do I have to sign up again
next semester?
No,
a direct deposit consent form remains in effect as long as you
are in school. Remember however, that if your checking or
savings account information changes or you change financial
institutions, you must change your direct deposit authorization
agreement to reflect the new account number and bank routing
information.
If I
sign up for direct deposit, will my refund be deposited into my
bank account on the first day of classes?
Any
excess financial aid will be direct deposited only after the
Financial Aid Office has distributed your funds and your account
is paid in full.
Can I
deposit to more than one account?
No.
A direct deposit can only be made to one account.
Who do I
call if I have questions about the direct deposit option?
You
may call the Cashier’s Office at 870-972-2873, or go by the
Cashier’s Office located in the Student Union on the
Jonesboro campus.
How far
in advance do I need to complete this authorization to get my
refund check direct deposited instead of a paper check?
Authorizations must be completed two weeks prior to the
beginning of each semester in order to assure direct deposit
within the first week of the term.
I got a
refund check. Why didn’t I get my check direct deposited?
You
may have made the arrangements for direct deposit after the
university ran checks for the day, or there may be a problem
with your direct deposit setup. Contact the Cashier’s Office
at (870) 972-2873 for assistance.
I am an
employee at ASU. If I have direct deposit through the Payroll
Office, will I automatically have direct deposit for my student
refund?
No,
you must complete a direct deposit authorization form and submit
it to the Cashier’s Office.
I am an
employee at ASU. If I deactivate my direct deposit for student
refunds, will I still have direct deposit for payroll?
Yes. Payroll direct deposit is separate from student account
direct deposit.
I am an
employee at ASU. Can I change my payroll direct deposit through
the Treasurer’s Office?
No.
You must go to the Payroll Office to change it.
How do I
sign up for direct deposit?
To sign up for
direct deposit, you must complete a
direct deposit authorization
form, attach a voided check and bring both to the
Treasurer's Office or Cashier's Window in the Administration
building, or you may mail the form to: Arkansas State
University-Treasurer's Office; PO Box 1680; State University,
AR 72467. For questions, call 972-2873.
How do I cancel my Direct
Deposit?
In order to
cancel your direct deposit, you must complete the direct deposit
authorization and mark “Delete Enrollment” at the top of the
page. Mail or bring the authorization form to the Treasurer’s
Office, PO Box 1680, State University, AR 72467. However,
no cancellations will be processed two weeks prior to, or two
weeks after the beginning of a semester.
