POLICY

Departments are responsible for ordering desk copies of textbooks for faculty directly from the publisher. However, when a recently employed faculty member is unable to obtain a desk copy from the publisher in a timely manner, an emergency desk copy may be obtained from the Bookstore.

  1. Desk copies obtained from the Bookstore are charged to the department.

  2. Department chairs are responsible for ordering replacement copies from the publisher. Once the Bookstore receives a replacement copy, the departmental account is credited.

REGULATIONS
  1. Request for a desk copy may be handled by a faculty member or departmental secretary. Students are not permitted to handle desk copy requisitions.

  2. The Bookstore will not accept used or marked books as replacement copies for desk copies. The department or faculty member must provide a new and unmarked replacement copy in order to receive credit.

PROCEDURES
  1. To request a desk copy, prepare a departmental requisition with appropriate signatures including the dean of the college.

  2. Forward the requisition to Finance and Administration.

  3. Desk copies received without an Interdepartmental Transfer (IDT) will be paid for by the faculty member at the time of pickup.

  4. Reimbursement will be as listed in Regulation #2, above.
