Subject: Desk Copies
POLICY
Departments are responsible for ordering desk copies of textbooks for
faculty directly from the publisher. However, when a recently employed
faculty member is unable to obtain a desk copy from the publisher in a
timely manner, an emergency desk copy may be obtained from the Bookstore.

Desk copies obtained from the Bookstore are charged to the department.

Department chairs are responsible for ordering replacement copies from
the publisher. Once the Bookstore receives a replacement copy, the departmental
account is credited.
REGULATIONS

Request for a desk copy may be handled by a faculty member or departmental
secretary. Students are not permitted to handle desk copy requisitions.

The Bookstore will not accept used or marked books as replacement copies
for desk copies. The department or faculty member must provide a new and unmarked replacement
copy in order to receive credit.
PROCEDURES

To request a desk copy, prepare a departmental requisition with appropriate
signatures including the dean of the college.

Forward the requisition to Finance and Administration.

Desk copies received without an Interdepartmental Transfer (IDT) will be paid
for by the faculty member at the time of pickup.

Reimbursement will be as listed in Regulation #2, above.
