POLICY
Institutional memberships in professional agencies, organizations and associations are funded by the university when the institution derives benefits from the memberships. These memberships sometimes allow the university multiple representation.
Institutional memberships may be paid from the university's designated account administered through the office of Research and Academic Affairs when membership has university-wide application, or from a department or college account when a membership is discipline specific or relates only to a specific unit.
Requests for payment from the institutional membership account must be directed to the Research and Academic Affairs office.
State regulations do not allow the university to pay for individual memberships, even if the invoice is in the name of the university. Multiple individual memberships in an organization cannot be considered institutional memberships.
